Ice Cream Social at The Yards
Get your cameras out! The Yards is going all-out this weekend to celebrate National Ice Cream Day with a larger-than-life retro ice cream experience! From Friday, July 30th through Sunday, August 1st, The Yards’ Sun Deck will be transformed with a 16 foot instagrammable Ice Cream Social installation for guests to enjoy a scoop in style. The colorful installation is a picture perfect moment with different backdrops including a human-sized ice cream cone and retro ice cream parlor! Additionally, Ice Cream Jubilee and Jenis Ice Creams will provide a free scoop of their delicious ice cream to the first 100 guests on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 who post a photo of the ice cream-themed installation at Yards Park. To receive a free ice cream, guests must tag @TheYardsDC in their tasty pic and show it off to event staff.

Can’t make the event above? No worries, we have plenty of places where you can find the best ice cream in town.

6th World Children’s Festival
Join the 6th World Children’s Festival (WCF) on July 30–August 1, 2021 at the National Mall across from the U.S. Capitol. Organized every four years, the WCF is the “Olympics” of creativity and imagination. You can watch electrifying performances on the “World Stage” or see masterpieces exhibited right across from the National Gallery of Art. You can participate in any of the workshops or activities taking place in a dozen pavilions. You’ll learn something new from eminent educators, prominent artists, and subject matter experts from federal agencies and universities. They will provide workshop materials and art supplies. You should bring your facemasks, water bottles, sunscreen lotions, and an umbrella too. Friday is Health and Environment Day. Saturday is Creativity & Imagination Day. Sunday is Peace & Leadership Day.

The National Air and Space Museum is reopening today

The Anthem is reopening to live audiences today

6:00pm-9:00pm: After Hours at The Station
Grab your blankets, chairs and dinner at one of The Station’s restaurants and meet us on The Village Green. Celebrate summer every Friday night with: Live DJ sets, Outdoor games, Nine-hole miniature golf, A photo scavenger hunt, Giveaways, prizes and more! This event is free and open to the public. Dogs are welcome!

7:00pm: Friday Night Concert Series at The Yards– Broadsound
The free Capitol Riverfront Friday Night Concert Series is back for its 11th Season! Every Friday night this summer, head to Yards Park to relax and enjoy the river view, fantastic bands, food and beverage, and a large variety of great restaurants within a few minutes walk from the park. Family-friendly lyrics and grassy open space make this an enjoyable event for adults and kids alike.

Sundown: DPR movie night at Woody Ward Rec Center– Soul
Movie nights will begin at dusk on various dates at DPR Recreation Centers all over the District. Enjoy new and classic films, snacks and more. No need to RSVP, just show up for an evening of fun! 

Saturday:

9:00am-5:00pm: Great Country Farm– Peachfuzztival
Saturday and then again Aug. 1, 7 & 8 is Peachfuzztival. Go and enjoy peaches, great food and drink at this full collaboration between Bluemont Vineyard, Dirt Farm Brewing, Henway Hard Cider, and Great Country Farms, all located in Bluemont, VA. Get the whole family involved in the Peach fun with our Peach Eating Contest, Peach Pit Spitting Contest, and Family Water Games starting at 2 p.m. After picking your own peaches, enjoy peach slushies, peach pies, peach bread, peach ice cream in the Knead It Bakery or grab lunch at the Roosteraunt concession stand or Henway by the Pond.

10:00am & 12:00pm: Theatre for Young Audiences at Olney OutdoorsImagination Stage’s Paper Dreams
The Root Family Stage is an open-air stage for families this summer. 

2:00pm & 4:30pm: Fairytales in the Sun at Adventure Theatre
The performance will be outdoors, so bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets, and your facial covering, for a theater experience that will be fun for the whole family! 

7:00pm: Drive-In Movies at the Pfitz – Footloose!
Movies at the Pfitz is Back for a third season of fun, food trucks, sweet treats, games, family friendly movie selections and more! Tickets can be purchased here.

Sunday:

10:00am & 12:00pm: Theatre for Young Audiences at Olney OutdoorsImagination Stage’s Paper Dreams
The Root Family Stage is an open-air stage for families this summer. 

11:00am & 2:00pm: Fairytales in the Sun at Adventure Theatre

It’s time to celebrate Christmas in July! Single tickets are now on sale for DR. SEUSS’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL at D.C.’s National Theatre, located on Pennsylvania Avenue just steps from the White House. The production will open the 2021/2022 Broadway at The National season as the first live performance in the venue since March of 2020. THE GRINCH will play for two weeks only, from November 23 through December 5, 2021, with multiple performances available on Black Friday.
