Weekend Picks: Trains, Pumpkin Village and Brewfest

Fall weather is approaching and looks like we will get our first real dose of it this weekend. There are many festivals and Halloween activities to get you in the mood this weekend. So grab the jackets, cameras and costumes and head to one of our Picks!

Friday-

4:00pm-7:00pm: Marie Reed Fall Festival
(Marie Reed Soccer Field- 2201 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009)
This event will have something for the whole family, including: bounce houses, giant slides, a rock climbing wall, face painting, pumpkin bowling, family fun run, soccer, and much more. We hope to see you there! $10 per child at the door or $5 in advance (stop by the school office to purchase tickets)

 

Stone Mountain Creamery Fall Farm Festival in Middleton, Maryland is BottleFeedingCalfthis weekend; 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am-5:00pm on Sunday. Enjoy hay rides, moon bounces, animals, samples from local vendors and much more. Free admission and free parking.

 

 

 

 

Saturday-

10:00am-12:00pm: Trick or Treat at Tudor Place
(1644 31st Street NW, Washington, DC. 20007)
Costumes too great to wear just once deserve a preview! Celebrate a Spooktacular Halloween at Tudor Place. Children in Halloween costumes are invited to trick-or-treat through the enchanting north gardens on the estate and participate in pumpkin painting, crafts, face painting, and games. $10 nonmember child, $7 member child, $3 adult. 11:00am-2:00pm: 8th Annual Kids’ Corner Fall Fair at Mitchell Park
(23rd and S St NW – Rain Location: Kids’ Corner Facilities around the block at 2200 California St, NW)
A fun-filled day of food, children’s activities – pumpkin decorating, a moon bounce, crafts, wagon-led hayrides, face painting – as well as live performances by the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers; 123 con Andres, FUNdamentals and GroovyNate!

11:00am-3:00pm: Stoddert Elementary School Fall Festival
(4001 Calvert Street, NW Washington, DC)
Moon Bounce and Inflatable slide. Rockland’s BBQ, Arcuri Pizza, Cotton Candy, Popcorn, and a bake sale.

12:30pm-3:00pm: Chevy Chase Center invites you to Boo4! with Spooky Train Ride
(2 Wisconsin Circle, Suite 560 Chevy Chase, Maryland 20815)
Rock out to music, trick or treat through stores, gobble goodies at Potomac Pizza, enjoy spooky cupcakes, face painters, moon bounces and pick out a pumpkin.

1:00pm-8:00pm: Eye Spy Train at Cabin John Regional Park
(7410 Tuckerman Ln, Rockville, MD 20852)
Looking for something fun to do this Halloween that won’t give your younger kids nightmares? Ride the “Eye Spy” Halloween Train at Cabin John Regional Park! Your kids will have fun looking for familiar friends and animals hiding in the woods and marking them off their “Eye Spy” card, while you sit back and enjoy the ride! We’ll show family-friendly Halloween movies each night, too! A not-so-scary train for kids under 8. Purchase tickets online.

435_pumkinfest1:30pm: Uno, Dos, Tres Con Andres at Leesburg Animal Park
(19270 James Monroe Highway Leesburg, VA 20175)
Every fall, Leesburg Animal Park turns into Pumpkin Village, with lots of cool actividades para un día de familia. Giant Hill Slides, Hay Wagon Rides, Moon Bounces, Pet & Feed LIVE Animals, Free Apple & Cider Snack and Free Mini-Pumpkin to take home. Park hours on Saturday are 9:30am-6:00pm.

6:30pm-9:30pm: Wheaton Haunted Train and Creepy Carousel
(2002 Shorefield Rd, Wheaton, MD 20902)
If you enjoy heart-racing, adrenalin-pumping, throat-constricting Halloween activities, we have a train (and carousel) for you. Who–or WHAT?–lurks in the dark Wheaton woods as you ride the Haunted Train? And what’s that perched on the ghostly horse silently screaming next to you on the Creepy Carousel? We promise to do our very best to scare the pants (metaphorically speaking) off you. We’ll show free frightening movies, and have snacks for sale, too. Purchase tickets online.
The Wheaton Haunted Train and Creepy Carousel is truly not suitable for kids under 8. Please check out the Cabin John “Eye Spy” Haunted Train instead!

 

Sunday-

10:00am: Sunday Funday at Imagination Stage
(4908 Auburn Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814)
We invite you and your child to bring your favorite stories to life through dramatic play activities, movement, music, and visual art. Each session you leave with a completed craft, as well as a Parent Pack to extend the experience at home. These popular workshops are themed around beloved children’s books. Featured story today is Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Best for ages 1-3. Tickets can be purchased here.

11:00am-7:00pm: Northern Virginia Brewfest

Grab a babysitter and make it an afternoon date! Or bring the kids; there will be a moonbounce, face painting and live music. A World Beer Experience” is a craft beer sampling festival, providing a great opportunity to try beers from different (over 60!) microbreweries from around the world.
