National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse– Through January 1, 2022
This year’s design includes a background of warm white lights with a delicate sprinkling of sparkling red and warm white sphere ornaments placed in a cascading pattern from the top all the way down the newly planted White Fir tree, with a cluster of sparkling red and white spheres on the lower branches. A simple, yet elegant star topper finishes off the design. Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Light Yards– Through January 1, 2022
The Yards is bringing back Light Yards for its fifth year at The Yards Park! Light Yards will continue its tradition as an opportunity to safely celebrate the holidays in a fun and socially-distant way during a time when many holiday traditions and events are not possible. The annual holiday installation will feature the premiere of the installation “Stars” by Australian-based immersive light design sculptors Amigo & Amigo. The larger-than-life stars constructed from metallic mesh feature dancing lights and play festive music, making for a perfect socially-distanced stroll for guests of all ages who want to safely experience some holiday cheer. This free-to-all installation will be illuminated nightly from 6-10pm at The Yards. Head to the Christmas Bar before or after- reservations required.

Winter Walk of Lights at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens– Through January 2, 2022
Bring the family to enjoy the magical Winter Walk of lights in Vienna, Virginia. The garden is transformed into a half-mile, animated walk of lights. Put on your walking shoes and bring the family to experience a Northern Virginia festive tradition. Purchase tickets online.

Outdoor holiday display at The U.S. Botanic Gardens– Through January 2, 2022 (closed on December 25)
The United States Botanic Garden will feature an outdoor holiday display in 2021. Festive adornments, winterberries, lighted trees and shrubs, and conifers and greenery will be placed throughout the Garden from Nov. 24, 2021, through Jan. 2, 2022, closed on Dec. 25. An outdoor train display can be visited in the gated outdoor gardens during these dates between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tickets are not required. The Conservatory and restrooms remain closed, due to the closure of buildings on the U.S. Capitol campus. While the full outdoor holiday display will officially begin on Nov. 24, some elements of the displays will be viewable at earlier dates, as they are installed.

Holiday Festival of Trains at B&O Railroad Museum– Through January 2, 2022
This holiday season, the B&O Railroad Museum is proud to announce the opening of a new Model Train Gallery, sponsored by Bank of America and featuring a painstakingly crafted HO Scale model layout of Baltimore in 1997. And as Holiday Festival of Trains returns to the B&O, we’ve transformed the Museum into a wonderland of festive fun with joyful traditions both new and old. With holiday offerings for kids from 1 to 92, the B&O’s Holiday Festival of Trains is sure to become your family’s favorite way to greet the season! Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens– Through January 2, 2022, (closed December 24-25, 2021)
Brookside Gardens has transformed into a magical winter wonderland for the 23rd year of Garden of Lights. Walkthrough the outdoor twinkling lights and glimmering displays that dot the paths and flowerbeds throughout the 50 acres in Wheaton. More than one million dazzling and colorful LED lights are handwoven into original works depicting animals, flowers, and other natural elements. You will be dazzled by the computerized light display matching lights with music, fog bubbles, and there will be great opportunities to get that perfect selfie.

Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State Park– Through December 31, 2021 (closed December 25, 2021)
The City’s Winter Lights Festival is getting ready to welcome visitors for another spectacular season. The 3.5 mile drive through the enchanted setting of Seneca Creek State Park takes you past more than 450 illuminated displays and beautifully lit trees that light up the night. The park is located at 11950 Clopper Road, conveniently accessible from I-270.

Bull Run Festival of Lights- Through January 2, 2022 (closed December 24, 25, 31, and January 1).
Experience the Bull Run Festival of Lights, 2.5 miles illuminated by holiday light displays. Drive the festival route from the comfort of your car; turn out your headlights and just follow the magical glow. After viewing the lights, bring your family and friends to the holiday village to enjoy rides, refreshments, and of course, photos with Santa Claus.

Festival of Lights at Watkins Regional Park– Through January 2, 2022
The Winter Festival of Lights will shine bright this holiday season with 3 miles of drive-through whimsical lights! Experience dazzling scenes that celebrate the magic of the holiday season from the comfort of your own car. This season, they are offering a Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride for the first time. Create unforgettable memories with a unique experience while you sit cozied up with your loved ones through the Winter Festival of Lights. Merriweather Symphony of Lights– Through January 2, 2022 (ALSO A WALK-THROUGH OPTION)
The Symphony of Lights has been a time-honored Howard County holiday tradition set in historic Merriweather Post Pavilion. Made up of more than 300,000 bulbs, this family-oriented spectacular is a dazzling display of larger-than-life animated and stationary holiday light creations. With the addition of new lights and a refreshed course, your time through the twinkling, winding path will surely be a night to remember! Shop the Holiday Market on the front courtyard of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. With market stalls that feature unique gifts and culinary offerings created by our Hotel ’s craftspeople and local artisans, now is the time to indulge. A percentage of each purchase is donated directly to Children’s National Hospital. Stop by on Fridays from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm.

The market will be held indoors at 4748 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Enjoy live music from two of American University’s premier a cappella groups while you shop. On a Sensual Note performs at 6:30 pm on Friday, December 3, while Pitches Be Trippin’ performs at 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 4.

Encore Stage & Studio present- Enchanted Bookshop Christmas
It’s four days before Christmas and Miss Margie, the scatterbrained owner of the shop, is thrilled to have two very special guests — her serious-minded sister Ellen and book-loving niece Annabelle. Ellen was recently laid off from her position as an astronomy professor, and she’s certain she’ll never find a job again. From exquisite, ultra-fine cashmere to unique home décor, and beautifully hand-crafted jewelry, you’ll find the perfect gift for everyone on your list – and some gorgeous items for you! The Holiday Boutiques are open to the public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, December 3, and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 4. No tickets are necessary to shop, so get together with friends for a fun day of shopping and a celebration of the holiday spirit! This year, the Christmas House Tour returns to Georgetown and features four stunning homes decorated in “Mistletoe and Holly” for the holidays. The ethereal vocal ensemble Cantus returns to The Barns for an evening of holiday favorites. From Latin hymnody to Spanish folksong, from Sacred Harp to Irving Berlin, this is the perfect way to kick off your holiday season.

9:00am-12:00pm: Winter Festival at National Children’s Museum
Join for a special holiday event at the Museum featuring festive refreshments, a photo opportunity with Santa, plus other holiday friends and cheer! The Winter Festival is a ticketed event. Space is limited, so reserve your tickets today. Children 1 and older will require a ticket, while children under 1 will be admitted for free. Tickets are $30 for General Admission and $15 for Member Admission. Every ticket includes admission to the Museum from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, small bites, warm drinks, and the opportunity to take a photo with Santa! All ticket purchases will be required to select a time slot for the photo opportunity with Santa.

10:00am-1:00pm: Bear Square Express to Benefit A Wider Circle
Get in the holiday spirit with a train ride circling around the Village Green at The Station. In addition to the ride, kids can enjoy holiday crafts and glitter tattoos. Help spread the holiday cheer by bringing at least one unwrapped gift to donate to A Wider Circle. These toys will be provided for families visiting A Wider Circle’s center in Silver Spring, MD and over 5,000 toys will be given to children living in Public Housing in D.C.

10:00am-5:00pm: Christmas Tree Pop-Up

11:00am: City-State Brewing Story Hour: The Ninth Night of Hanukkah
Erica is the author of numerous early-reader books, chapter books, middle grade novels and picture books, including the festive and inspiring The Ninth Night of Hanukkah, which follows siblings Rachel and Max as they navigate their first Hanukkah in a new apartment.

12:00pm-5:00pm: The Dupont Circle Holiday Pop-Up
More than 65 vendors will sell unique items such as jewelry, pottery, paintings, wood works, wellness products, and tasty treats outside in front of retail shops and restaurants. The day will also include shopping at the Heurich House Christmas Market ($13 admission), Dupont Underground (20 vendors), and St. Thomas Parish (15 vendors). The Dupont Circle Holiday Pop-Up is free and open to the public and will happen snow or shine. Volunteers will be at the Dupont Circle Metro North-Q Street – passing out maps and giving directions. Takes place on Connecticut Ave, and P Street, and 17th Street.

2:00pm-2:45pm: Mr. Lilo!: An Outdoor Holiday Fiesta at West End Library
Sing, jump, and dance with Mr. Lilo and his guitar. Families, join for some holiday merriment, neighborhood cheer, and seasonal festivities through music, dancing, and story sharing. Mr. Lilo will perform his original music and traditional songs in English and Spanish on the sidewalk in front of the West End Library. This program is made possible thanks to the West End Library Friends. In the event of inclement weather, the program will take place on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 pm.

2:00pm & 7:00pm: Manheim Steamroller Christmas at Strathmore
Do you remember the first time you heard Mannheim Steamroller Christmas? This classic album has become synonymous with the season and become a treasured holiday tradition for millions over the past 35 years. For this special 35th anniversary performance, Mannheim Steamroller will perform the album that started it all, Christmas, live, in its entirety. Experience the magic as the spirit of the holiday season comes alive with dazzling multimedia effects and the signature sound of Mannheim Steamroller. 

3;00pm: The Georgetown Chorale live concert
Music lovers, join for a free live concert this Saturday at the Church of the Epiphany, 1317 G Street NW, for Songs of Gratitude and Hope. A beautiful program for you, including Frostiana, by Randall Thompson — 7 of Robert Frost’s poems set to music; The Promise of Living, by Aaron Copland; two gorgeous late Renaissance pieces; a spiritual arrangement by African American composer Undine Smith Moore; and other wonderful 19th and 20th century music. If you can’t make it, there will be a recording later. The link for tickets in advance is here. All singers are vaxxed and will be masked. Please note that audience members will be asked to show a photo ID and proof of full vaccination, and must wear masks throughout the performance.

4:00pm: Holiday Sing-A-Long (from home) at Wolf Trap
Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is pleased to continue the longstanding community tradition of the Holiday Sing-A-Long, this year with a virtual twist! Traditionally, this event combined a festive instrumental performance by the United States Marine Band and a sing-a-long of traditional holiday carols led by more than 500 local singers. This year’s event will be presented in a digital format and we hope that you will participate from the comfort of your home. The program will feature performances by some of The Barns at Wolf Trap’s favorite artists and will commence with a program of festive songs pre-recorded by the USMB at the Barns at Wolf Trap and conclude with a festive at-home sing-a-long. Join for the virtual performances on December 4 and 18, 2021, gathered safely with family, cocoa, and cookies.

4:00pm-6:00pm: Snow Day at the North Pole
The Boro will host an Après Ski-themed party to officiate the start of the holiday season and light up the giant snow globe. Guests will be thrilled as “snow” fills the air while they’re snapping pics, decorating snow globes and ornaments, and sipping custom holiday cocktails. Plus, get in the spirit of giving with a toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots!

4:30pm-6:30pm: Hanukkah Party at The Lane

The National Menorah is honored to have the presence of the Military Bands of the Military District of Washington perform at the lighting ceremony, often accompanied by a celebrity Jewish artist. Prominent guests including the President, Vice President, members of the Cabinet, Congress and the diplomatic corps, as well as numerous senior Administration officials and international dignitaries and celebrities have participated in the ceremony. The event creates much joy and celebration throughout the entire Washington community and beyond. 2020 Guide:
We hope you find this gift guide helpful as we have highlighted items that will entertain your children through the winter as we prepare to spend more time indoors as well as some gifts for your home (or others). For your home:

This steam mop is my favorite purchase during quarantine. Easy to use, I have now put my kids in charge of cleaning the floors! It eliminates 99.9 percent of germs and bacteria with the natural power of steam. I add essential oils to bring an inviting smell in, a bit of olive oil and sometimes a light cleaning product from Branch Basics into my water.

Solo Stove has allowed us to be outside on cool nights! It comes in various sizes and is smokeless (if you have dry firewood). Don’t forget marshmallow and hot dog skewers for the bonfire.

A lot of our friends have stepped up their outdoor spaces with a projector and screen so they can show movies outside alongside their bonfire and/or heat lamp. Whatever allows us to get out of our house in 2020, right?

Seriously don’t know why I didn’t get this sooner. The iRobot Roomba is a vacuum that intelligently maps & cleans an entire level of your home- set it and go! A cheaper option is the Eufy which also cleans hardwood and carpet.

Instant Pot is worth the hype and comes in various sizes. I just wish I had a cabinet it could be stored in.

Our air purifier is a 3-part filtration system that captures 99% of common airborne pm 2.5 pollutants such as allergens, odors, smoke, mold spores, dust mites and pet dander.

Add some green to your home and add a snake plant or palm. We have gifted this succulent subscription box to a friend and they delivered gorgeous succulents.

Get active and outside:

My kids are begging for rollerblades or rollerskates and I’m not opposed.

Socker boppers are another fun way for kids to get out some energy with theses inflatable boppers which can used in a variety of ways.

Another item on my kids list this year is a hoverboard. Perhaps it’s due to the marathon we just had watching Back to the Future.

Micro scooters are great– they come in a variety of sizes and styles and my kids have loved each one they’ve had. The mini-deluxe is perfect for ages 2-5 and the maxi deluxe is the next scooter for ages 5-12 while this micro is great for the older kids who have better balance.

If you have space outside a ninja obstacle course is a great way to get your kids outdoors and burning energy.

Balance stepping stones are great for smaller kids to set up in the yard while developing balance, collaboration and concentration skills

Dueling stomp rocket allows two friends to stomp rockets as high as they can into the sky.

Arts and crafts:

This playhouse allows kids to doodle & decorate a cardboard castle and other designs. A perfect indoor activity that will provide plenty of fun for winter.

Don’t let the word painting steer you away from this. My six year old received this for her birthday and in one day created all of the 12 designs– she LOVED it and it is an activity that allowed her to be completely independent while creating. Grab this big gem diamond painting!

3-D printing pen is the first in a 3D printing device!

Wireless karaoke microphone is a handheld karaoke microphone which is small in size and easy to hold. Kids can practice and share favorite songs using music apps (YouTube , Pandora, Spotify..)

Osmo starter kit: Children interact with actual hand held pieces & an iPad, bringing a child’s game pieces & actions to life (No WiFi necessary for game play).

A bluetooth speaker is great to have when you go outdoors as it is bluetooth compatible. We brought this one along on our beach trips this summer and it worked great. A cheaper option is this Bose one.

A Wider Circle’s efforts focus on the creation of stable homes, workforce development, neighborhood revitalization, and the creation of greater awareness and engagement by the community, as a whole. There are a variety of ways to volunteer and donate through holiday giving programs, donating items and more. Host a toy drive, sponsor a family and donate new gifts are part of the Holiday programs.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Make holiday cards to be sent to injured, ill or hospitalized service members and veterans as well as virtual opportunities.

Animal Welfare of Arlington’s Paws and Read
For more than 75 years, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington has served the Arlington community with animal sheltering and control services to help pet owners keep their animals healthy, happy, and home. Walk a dog and other opportunities. Bookmark this page for other youth programs such as summer camp and birthday parties.

Arlington Food Assistance Center
They feed neighbors in need by providing dignified access to nutritious supplemental groceries. Volunteers bag, distribute, drive, glean, grow, help in the office/warehouse, organize and assist at special events. Birthday Givers is great for younger kids.

Arlington National Cemetery
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Art for Humanity
Their mission is to help the poor, help themselves. They have been working in Honduras for a decade to help break the cycle of poverty that grips this beautiful country of wonderful people. Collect vitamins for adults and children and/or distribute the vitamins, sponsor a child’s education.

Bethesda Cares
They help ease, end and prevent homelessness in Montgomery County. Donate time, money or seasonal clothing and toiletries to this homeless prevention program.

Bread for the City
The mission of Bread for the City is to help Washington, DC residents living with low income to develop their power to determine the future of their own communities. They provide food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services to reduce the burden of poverty. They seek justice through community organizing and public advocacy. Pack bags of trimmings for the holidays, support the food, clothing, diaper, and other programs.

Capital Area Food Bank
The Capital Area Food Bank is the anchor of the hunger relief infrastructure in our region, providing more than 45 million meals to people in communities across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. But they don’t stop there, because they know that creating long term solutions to hunger requires more than meals. They approach the problem in multiple ways: providing food for today, and addressing the root causes of hunger by partnering with organizations that provide critical services like job training programs and health care. Sort and pack food for delivery as well as rake and plant in their garden and distribute fresh produce at free community farmer’s markets.

Food for All helps to improve the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses that limit their ability to provide nourishment for themselves. Providing home grocery delivery for those not mobile enough to make it to other local organizations for assistance now makes over 3000 deliveries each year. Deliver food to those in need.

Volunteers of all ages can join their adult family members delivering meals to clients’ homes, making this an ideal volunteer opportunity for parents with young children. The Hirshhorn is hosting its first-ever dog-friendly event, just in time for Halloween. Dress up your pup, and if they’re feeling fierce, sign them up to strut their stuff in our furry fashion contest ($25 to register, free for Hirshhorn Insiders) for the chance to win a few special prizes. Local experts District Dogs will be there to keep the dog party going with free activities like peanut butter portraits. 11:00am-12:00pm: Día de los Muertos Virtual Family Program
The National Postal Museum is delighted to collaborate with the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) to create a virtual family program that celebrates Day of the Dead | Día de los Muertos. The United States Postal Service (USPS) is issuing its first-ever Día de los Muertos stamps in 2021, and these Smithsonian museums are commemorating this special issue by bringing unique educational content to a virtual audience. This program includes an author reading of Dia de los Muertos by Roseanne Greenfield Thong. Educational staff from the Postal Museum and NMAI will lead the audience through some special connections between the book, the holiday, and their collections, and the program will conclude with a craft demonstration. This program is recommended for ages 3-7 but all are welcome!

Explore, celebrate and engage in the arts at BlackRock with a day of spooktacular celebration of family programming with free pumpkins, improv workshops, exhibits, trick-or-treating, visual arts, haunted hip-hop, The Rocky Horror Picture Show beginning at 11:00am. From 2:00 – 6:00pm Lil’ pumpkin festival: free pumpkins for ages 11 and under, photo booth (Time TBD), Lil’ pumpkin painting, and Mommy Daddy beer garden! The Shepherd Park Citizens Association (SPCA) is hosting its First Annual sPETacular Halloween Parade and Costume Contest at Noon at the Parks at Walter Reed proves Halloween is for furbabies too! Prizes are generously donated by One Leg Up Pets, Big Bad Wood Pet Store, and other vendors will be awarded by celebrity judges Carin Ruff of Dog-Friendly Shepherd Park, Vickie Davis of Hines Urban Atlantic, and Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis-George. Register your dog for FREE or come to cheer on your favorites. The event opens at Noon on 10/30/21 at the Parks at Walter Reed Dog Park. Enter at the Butternut gate and please wear a mask.

1:00pm-4:00pm: Nightmare on Elm Street Urban Park
You won’t find Freddy Kreuger here, but come out to Montgomery Parks’ FREE Nightmare on Elm Street Halloween event at Elm Street Urban Park for some spooky, silly fun! This FREE event will feature fun events for the whole family! No registration is required. Bring your appetite, because O’Boy Pizza and Ice Cream will be on-site to provide delicious food, along with a great Halloween disc jockey to get you in the spooky spirit! They will also have a fantastic “Trick or Treat Trails” scavenger hunt, lots of lawn games, and plenty of picnic seating. There will be tons of great Halloween props and decorations for you to snap pictures with.

1:00pm-3:00pm: Halloween Best in Show at The Boro
The Boro, Tyson’s premier destination for luxury urban living in the heart of Northern Virginia, is calling all furry friends to grab their favorite costumes for Best in Show at The Boro! Celebrate the spookiest day of the year with festive treats and activities for the whole family on Hallow’s-eve. Best in Show at The Boro will include a live DJ, themed photo booth, arts-and-crafts, trick-or-treating, and everyone’s favorite lawn games stationed around the park. In the feature event, guests can enter their pups for the ‘Best in Show Costume Contest’ for a chance to win baskets filled with Halloween-themed dog goodies! Owners can then reward their pets at the Bone Bar, a booth offering a festive selection of yummy treats meant for your four-legged friends.

2:00pm-6:00pm: Trick or Treat at Mount Vernon
Celebrate Halloween with 18th-century entertainment and activities. Collect candy in your special Mount Vernon treat bag around the historic grounds. Watch Halloween-themed Punch & Judy shows at 2:30 & 4:00 p.m. on the Bowling Green. Watch and Learn about 18th century magic in the Upper Garden at 3:30 & 5:00 p.m. See an 18th-century chocolate-making demonstration and sample a chocolate treat (while supplies last) in the North Grove. Learn about 18th-century Wool Carding along the South Lane. Watch sparks fly at the Blacksmith Shop. Enjoy musical entertainment on the Bowling Green. Find out about our Hog Island sheep, a breed dating back to Washington’s time, at the Stables.

4:00pm-11:00pm: Drive thru Trick or Treat
DC Party Box is bringing back a contactless drive thru trick or treating Halloween experience in Rockville. Take a drive-thru a spooktacular village with plenty of stops for treats (and tricks) along the way. They’re bringing the thrill to the whole family, with excitement and scares to delight all spook levels. Purchase a “treat” ticket for all individuals in the car that would like candy, and/or purchase a “trick” ticket for all individuals who are just along for the spook of it. EVERYONE in the car must have a ticket and stay in the car.

4:30pm: Luchadora at Adventure Theatre
Luchadora! closes this weekend! Join Adventure for story about defying gender norms, following one’s dreams, and appreciating the ties that bind a family together! From headlocks to power kicks, “Luchadora!” has it all!

5:00pm-10:00pm: OFC’s House of Terror and Family Trunk or Treat
The Old Firehouse is transforming the inside of the center into the spookiest, scariest, walk-through experience in McLean. The House of Terror will be divided into two time slots:• No Scares 5–7 p.m.: Participants can walk through the lighted path and view our actors and actresses with no jumps, scares or fears.• All Scares 7:30–10 p.m.: The effects are on, the lights are off, and the actors and actresses are out of sight and ready to surprise. Trunk or Treat: Saturday, Oct. 30, 6–9 p.m. Free for kids of all ages; preregistration is not required. If the House of Terror isn’t your thing, no worries! Outside, the OFC’s Trunk or Treat will have some music, fun and themed vehicles with Halloween candy to share while supplies last.

6:00pm-9:00pm: Roving Leaders Zombie Fest
What does it look like when the Zombie Apocalypse hits The Nation’s Capital? Join us and see for yourself as the DPR roving leaders turn NW DC into a doomsday theme park.

6:00pm-9:00pm: Halloween Spooktacular
The St. James Halloween Spooktacular is a great way to enjoy a fun-filled, safe Halloween evening. Bring your own blanket for socially-distanced family movie night in The St. James Field House. 6:00-7:00 PM: Trick-or-Treating. Pre-wrapped candy will be distributed with gloves. Masks required for all employees and unvaccinated guests. 6:30 PM: Field House open for blanket set up, food pick-up and candy sorting. 7:00-8:30 PM: Kid friendly movie (TBD) begins in the Field House 8:30-9:00 PM: Costume Contest – (Winner wins a free SAA birthday party!).

11:00am-2:00pm: Bark Social Fall Fest & Puppy Parade
Fall fest will include activities such as: Duo donut grab with you and your pup, bobbing for apples, ring toss, straw bale pyramid, pumpkin calligraphy, cookie decorating, and much more! There’s something for everyone — you’ll be sure to leave the park with a a bag full of goodies. Silver Branch Brewing and Frankly Vodka will be giving out drinks as well for the adults. Afterwards, get the pups in a row and parade around Pike & Rose. Yes, prizes will definitely be given out to best dressed in three categories: (1) Best buddies joint costume (you + your dog), (2) Best dog costume, and (3) Best group costume (2+ humans and dogs).

11:00am-1:00pm: Rumpus Room Family Dance Party, Halloween Special
The Rumpus Room, DC’s only daytime dance party for families, returns for Halloween! This October we’ll be getting (slightly) spooky, outdoors under the sun, so put on your costumes and come dance with us! Get ready for a dance floor filled with little ghosts, goblins, witches, dragons, and pumpkins of all ages. Relive your night-life glory days and show off those rusty moves with your little ones in tow. The soundtrack for the day will be a family-friendly mix of dance floor and Halloween classics, all at a kid-friendly volume.

12:00pm & 5:00pm Laurie Berkner’s Virtual Halloween Concert
Ready for a spooktacular Halloween experience? Beloved children’s musician Laurie Berkner invites families to stop in for a spell HERE. For double the fun, a family ticket grants admission to both livestreams. For kids who are all dressed up with nowhere to ghost, Laurie’s shows will give the season of costumes, candy, and jack-o’-lanterns a real “BOO-st.” Laurie hopes families will join her in displaying their pumpkins, putting up their Halloween decorations, and getting decked out in their Halloween costume finery.

2:00pm-5:00pm: Spooktacular on Connecticut Avenue
The Chevy Chase Citizens Association is reviving Spooktacular – to be held on Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, DC. Restaurants and store owners will provide goodies for costumed trick-or-treaters.

The Metropolitan Police Department (Second District), Metro Transit Police, and Starbucks invites you to join us for a fun & safe Halloween event for the entire family! Just pull up and each child will receive a bag filled with lots of treats and surprises.
