This week’s adventures: Portrait Gallery, Flights of Fancy & Andrés

January 26, 2014

Screen Shot 2014-01-26 at 8.25.19 PMWe wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming support we received our first week. We reached over 200 likes on Facebook in just 5 days of launching and we had great activity on our blog by readers. Please continue to share, like and comment as we would love to reach more of you and learn about how we can better serve your needs.

We hope everyone had a weekend full of adventures and laughs. We attended El Tamarindo for the first-ever DC Family Fiesta which featured some of DC kids favorite music artists. Keep an eye out in the upcoming Weekend Picks for more details on this Saturday morning fiesta. We found an overwhelming amount of children’s activities this week, it was hard to narrow it down to our favorites below. We hope you enjoy them and can get to a lot of them as we chosen places throughout DC, MD and VA. Have a great week with your bambino(s)!

Monday, Jan. 27

9:30am- Harambe at BloomBars
(3222 11th St NW, Washington, DC. 20010)
Think of it as your little one’s first opportunity to express his or her voice (into a microphone), dance, play a drum or percussion instrument, shout, or sing-along to songs that build character, confidence and community.

10:00am-12:00pm- Takoma Park Community Playtime at Heffner Community Center
(42 Oswego Ave. Takoma Park, MD. 20910)
This free event is sponsored by the Takoma Park Recreation Department and is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to enjoy open playtime, read stories, sing songs, work on craft projects, enjoy a wonderful outdoor playground, and socialize.

January 19, 2014

Adventures for your bambino! Read our special Martin Luther King, Jr. post on all of the exciting things you can do on Monday to recognize Mr. King. The remainder of week seems to be full of music — so get those little ones ready for some tunes!

The Polar Vortex is apparently returning with a vengeance. There isn’t much planned so here are a few places to stay warm and indoors and  your bambino can still have fun.

Visit the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs before the exhibit closes for renovation. There is also a butterfly encounter that is a lot of fun to walk through. We went this weekend and our son loved watching the colorful butterflies fly around and even land on him.

Monkey Joes is sure to be a hit with your toddler (they have a separate play area for kids 3 and under) and bigger children with all the numerous inflatable toys to climb on and games to play.  23521 Overland Dr Suite120 Sterling, VA 20166 (703) 996-8300.
