Birthday party ideas for older kids in and around Washington, DC

May 7, 2018

I love planning our Bambinos birthday parties but as our son has gotten older, his requests have gotten more precise and less intense. I do appreciate his taste for not having a big, blown out celebration and our bank account also thanks his simple request. He wants to play a baseball game with his friends at a local park (again)– which is how he celebrated turning 5. After applying for the permit at the park, I decided to create a new birthday post in preparation of his future parties as well as for all of you with an older crew who have outgrown some of the ideas on previous birthday posts we’ve created (see bottom of this post).

Weekend Picks: Free jazz concert, a day at the farm and an evening with the clowns

August 8, 2014

Have a great weekend! There are some exciting events this weekend that we hope to make it to, starting with The Backyard Bash. Our son loves wide open spaces to run in and enjoys picking fruit and petting animals so we will hang out at Ticonderoga at some point. There are a few evening events for those with older children that sound like a blast! The weather should be gorgeous so if you’re looking to head to an outdoor water park or splash park here’s your guide!

Saturday-

AR-71222997710:00am: Bob Brown Puppeteer at Glen Echo
(7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, Md)
Lights are on, doors are open as Bob Brown tells the story of Old MacDonald through puppets during the Tiny Tots performance. Recommended for ages 0-4, $5. My 3 year old saw Bob Brown at camp this week and hasn’t stopped talking about it!

10:00am: Mr. Gabe and the Circle Time All-Stars at Lake Fairfax Park Amphitheater
(1400 Lake Fairfax Drive, Reston, VA 20190)
