Planning Your Family’s Summer Adventure: Why Now is the Time to Act

April 24, 2025

Chances are you just got home from a relaxing spring break, or perhaps your social feeds have been flooded with photos of friends lounging on beaches and exploring new cities, triggering that familiar travel envy. Either way, with your suitcases barely unpacked, summer vacation might already be on your mind. As a travel advisor, I’m here with some important advice: while summer planning is pressing, now is also the perfect time to look ahead to winter break and even next spring break!

Summer Travel: The Clock is Ticking

If you’re hoping for that perfect summer family getaway, the reality is that inventory is already limited and prices are climbing. Popular family-friendly resorts are booking quickly, especially those with the amenities that make family travel truly enjoyable:

  • Engaging kids clubs that give parents a break while children have supervised fun
  • Family suites with separate sleeping areas (a game-changer for bedtime)
  • Age-appropriate activities that everyone can enjoy
  • Pool complexes with features for all ages

The most sought-after properties – those with the right balance of relaxation for parents and excitement for kids – often book solid months in advance.

Looking Beyond Summer: The Strategic Traveler’s Advantage

The savviest families are already planning their winter break and next spring break travels. By booking these trips now, you’ll benefit from:

  • Better availability at top family-friendly properties
  • Early booking discounts
  • Your choice of ideal room configurations
  • More flight options at reasonable prices

Remember that holiday periods like winter break see extraordinary demand, with many families returning to favorite resorts year after year, meaning inventory disappears quickly.

How a Travel Advisor Makes the Difference

Planning family travel can be overwhelming. Between finding accommodations that please everyone, coordinating activities for different ages, and managing logistics, the process can take dozens of hours.

As a travel advisor, I specialize in:

  • Identifying truly family-friendly properties (not just those that claim to be!)
  • Securing connecting rooms or family suites
  • Finding properties with exceptional children’s programs
  • Creating balanced itineraries with something for everyone
  • Unlocking special amenities and upgrades
  • Providing support before, during, and after your trip

Ready to Start Planning?

Whether you’re looking to salvage summer vacation plans or wisely getting ahead on winter and spring break travel, I’m here to help. The perfect family vacation balances adventure with relaxation, offering experiences that bring everyone together while still providing those necessary moments of independence.

Let me handle the research and logistics while you focus on the fun part – getting excited about your next family adventure! Reach out today, and let’s start planning unforgettable family memories together. Drop me a note, and let’s start dreaming together.

On April 16, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed a bill ending slavery in the District of Columbia. Passage of this act came nearly nine months before President Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation. The law ended slavery in Washington, DC which freed approximately 3,100 individuals, reimbursed those who had legally owned these individuals, and offered the newly freed women and men money to emigrate. It is this legislation, and the courage and struggle of those who fought to make it a reality, that we commemorate every April 16th as DC Emancipation Day.
