The Story Pirates take Baltimore {first-ever album of song} + GIVEAWAY

October 8, 2018

The Story Pirates, an acclaimed nationally touring company that turns kids’ wildly creative stories into musical sketch comedy, just released their first-ever album of songs: Nothing Is Impossible. With a zany array of topics, from office penguins to fashionable unicorns, soaring as high as the shiny stars and a carrot on Saturn, this is an album of 12 songs that spring from the unbound imaginations of children. The digital-only album, featuring original songs that originally aired on the Story Pirates Podcast, is performed by a cast of dozens of actors and musicians. Catch the Story Pirates live, and view their tour schedule here.

We’re excited to announce as part of their fall tour, The Story Pirates will visit the Gordon Center at the JCC of Greater Baltimore. In advance of this show, the JCC will be hosting story-writing workshops under the theme of “Heroes,” and The Story Pirates will be performing 3 or 4 of these brand-new, kid-inspired stories at the performance Our family has seen them several times as part of Wolf Trap’s Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods! My nephew also sent in a story hw wrote and was chosen by the Story Pirates who performed it in NYC. An incredible moment for him as he was able to see his writing turn into a performance. We’ve got tickets for you and your family to see The Story Pirates on Sunday, November 11 at 3:00pm at the Gordon Center at the JCC of Greater Baltimore as well as a download link for 2 lucky winners to access the new album. Comment below, on Facebook & on Instagram with an emoji of choice for a chance to win!!!

The Story Pirates aren’t your typical swashbuckling sailors. They don’t steal gold, pillage villages, or claim land; they’re searching for a different kind of treasure: kid’s wildest, most imaginative stories. Stories by children from Baltimore and beyond will be brought to life and staged by the Story Pirates’ professional improvisational and comedic actors – replete with music, costumes and sets. Story Pirates first received national attention in 2008 when comedian Jon Stewart called the ensemble “crazy entertaining” on CNN.  Since that time, they’ve been described as a “mix between School House rock and Monty Python,” and the New York Times called the group “theatrical treasure.” They’re celebrating the release of their new album “Nothing Is Impossible,” with songs that originally aired on The Story Pirates Podcast. Learn how Story Pirates encourages kids to write and be creative here.
