Weekday Adventures: A kid-friendly Oktoberfest, Fall Frolic and tunes by Mr. Gabe

Thursday-Sunday you can check out the 19th annual Fort Belvoir Oktoberfest. Check out the Kinder Korner schedule so you don’t miss anything. Musical performances, carnival rides and so much more.

A trip to the farm or orchard is a perfect way to break up the week. Check out some local fall festivals to head to. After all,  you need to start to decorate your home with pumpkins and begin baking with all of those apples.

Monday-

9:30am: Harambe at Bloombars
(3222 11th St NW, Washington, DC. 20010)
Think of it as your little one’s first opportunity to express his or her voice (into a microphone), dance, play a drum or percussion instrument, shout, or sing-along to songs that build character, confidence and community.

10:30am-11:00am: Songs and stories at Politics and Prose
(5015 Connecticut Ave. NW Washington, DC 20008)
Come sing-along to your favorite songs. Grab a treat in the cafe afterwards or hang out reading books.

11:00am and 12:00pm: Mr. Gabe at Cox Farms
(15621 Braddock Rd, Centreville, VA 20120)
A perfect way to explore a new farm and fall festival. The farm opens at 10:00am so get there early to play and then catch the concert(s).

Tuesday-

10:00am and 11:00am: Mr. Gabe at Takoma Park Maryland Library
(101 Philadelphia Ave. Takoma Park, Md. 20912)
Join the catchy and entertaining Mr. Gabe for “Community Circle Time” for 2 free shows. Become a member of the library while you’re there, if not one already or just stay and read with your little one.

10:00am: Tudor Tots: Fall Frolic
(1644 31st Street, NW Washington, DC , DC 20007)
Tudor Place has enchanted young children for 200 years. Experience it yourself Tuesday mornings, as you meet to read, sing, and play in the gardens and historic spaces. This family-friendly program offers a new theme each week, from “adventurous animals” to “growing gardens” and more. Children will participate in interactive read-alouds, songs, and themed movements related to the week’s topic, sharing a tranquil setting with the grown-ups who care for them. Sign up for one class or all of the classes that run through November 25. Parents/caregivers remain with children.

10:00am: Samba Baby at Bloombars

It’s never too early to learn the infectious dance of the world’s 5th largest country and there’s no better teacher then Zezeh Zax– a dancer, professional performer of Brazilian samba and founder of the ZEZEH BRAZIL Dance Troupe. Get your baby movin and groovin!

10:00am: Rocking Tot Tuesdays with The Singing Lizard at Bloombars

Grab an instrument, get on stage or practice your moves on the dance floor. This is a perfect spot for your little one to move and groove. Suggested donation $7.

4:00pm: Storytime at Barnes and Noble
(4801 Bethesda Avenue Bethesda, MD 20814)
Kids of all ages are invited to dress from head to toe in their favorite color and enjoy a special story time reading of, Don’t Let the Crayons Quit. Will They Quit? The Reveal Event!

Wednesday-

10:30am: Boogie Babes presents The Singing Lizard  at Union Market
(1309 5th St NE, Washington, DC. 20002)
Access the free market parking lot from 6th Street NE or travel via metro to NoMA-Gallaudet. Come early for coffee and stay for lunch!

5:30pm: !Uno, Dos, Tres con Andres! at BloomBars
(3222 11th St NW, Washington, DC. 20010)
!Uno, Dos, Tres con Andres! is a sure bet every time. Children of various ages enjoy this interactive show that teaches Spanish language and Latin American culture.

Thursday-

Counting has never been more fun in English and Spanish. Local kids’ music star Andrés Salguero offers sing-alongs to songs familiar and new, including great music from his debut CD, ¡Uno, Dos, Tres con Andrés!, creating plenty of bilingual fun. Get set to bailar y aprender (dance and learn) with Andrés!

10:30am-11:30am: Snugglers at the United States Botanic Garden
(100 Maryland Ave, SW, Washington, DC 20001- Conservatory Garden Court)
Do you have a tiny treasure in a snuggly? Looking for ways to get out of the house, and learn? Join us each Thursday for a 45-minute guided tour of the Conservatory. Each week will be a different exploration. This program is designed for parents and care providers who have a tiny one in a snuggly. Please note: Due to narrow paths and the nature of this program, they cannot support strollers or older siblings.

10:30am: Boogie Babes at Eastern Market

Our most popular show of the week! Join us at Historic Eastern Market’s North Hall (closest to South Carolina) for a lively concert, grab lunch and shop for dinner. Access to the North Hall via the market for Boogie Babes. Eastern Market Metro is two short blocks away.

10:30am: The Great Zucchini at Jammin Java
(227 Maple Ave E Vienna, VA 22180)
Get tickets here for The Great Zucchini, Washington’s funniest and most magical preschool and kindergarten entertainer, performs a colorful magic show where every child is a star and guaranteed to laugh. Experience the excitement of the children when they get to learn a magic trick at the end of show.

Friday-

10:00am: Songs, stories & puppets at Bloombars

30 minutes of storytelling, dancing, singing and entertainment just for kids under 5.

10:30am: Boogie Babes at Atlas Performing Arts

Join us at the ATLAS Performing Arts Center along the H Street Corridor. Snack bar and bathrooms are easily accessible. Lots of good and kid-friendly lunch options within one to three blocks!

2:00pm-4:00pm: Afternoon Aviators at College Park Aviation Museum
(1985 Cpl. Frank Scott Drive, College Park 20740)
Afternoon Aviators is a weekly series for children ages five and up. Join us for fun hands-on aviation themed activities. Activities range from making your own paper airplane to playing a game of aviation bingo. This program is held every Friday from 2pm to 4pm and is free with regular museum admission.
