This weekend the 14th Annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival. Festival booths line King Street between Washington and Union streets, featuring over six blocks of artwork by more than 200 artists from the US and abroad.

The Great Frederick Fair is also happening through September 24.

Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am-7:00pm Maryland Renaissance Festival will be joisting and serving up lots of turkey legs weekends through October 23.  The festival is free to children 11 and under. Take a time machine back to medieval times. With plenty of entertainment, including music, joisting, puppetry, pony rides and so much more. Your children will see people dressed up in 16th century outfits. Dress like a knight and come participate!

9:30am AND 10:30am: Harambee at Bloombars

Five years and more than 700 shows later, Harambee @BloomBars has become a Washington DC institution and a cultural/moral compass for thousands of parents and youth. In Swahili, Harambe means “All pull together.” At BloomBars, Harambe is the practice of hope, possibility and compassion – basically, all the things that happen when we all come together.

10:00am-11:30am: Kidical Mass Family Biking: Twinbrook

Join us for the Kidical Mass ride through the Twinbrook neighborhood!  The Kidical Mass rides are designed for families with young children (younger than can go on the normal Bike Rockville rides) or anyone who supports family biking. We welcome parents with children on their own bikes or coming along for the ride via trailers, bike seats, tag-alongs or any other family biking set-up you have. Get ready to rock the rainbow! The Rainbow Lady (Kate Moran), joined by some of her friends, Guitarmony Gus (Derek Evry), Professor Paradiddle (Ben Tufts), Captain Toe Tappin (Kevin de Souza) and Princess Fiddlesticks (Lynn Rovelli) make up the rainbow band! These talented tunesters will entertain your little ones with a combination of classic and original children’s songs, from their CD “Meet the Rainbow,” that will keep you boppin in your socks until you just can’t rock anymore! This amazing team is joined by the lovely Pattycake Patty (Patty Moran) who is on hand to help out with microphones and more for your little one to join in the fun! 11:00am-12:00pm: Community Bike Ride with MPD
(Begin in Logan Circle 13th & P St)
A total of a three mile bike ride.  This community bike ride is for adults and children with a guardian.  Rain or shine!

11:00am-4:00pm: Descubra! at the National Museum of American History Latinidad: Looking into Latina Women’s American Experience
(First Floor, Coulter Plaza, West Wing)
History becomes Herstory in a festival celebrating the participation and contributions of Afro-Latina and Latina women to American history. Engage with Hip Hop music DJs Maracuyeah, Black Latina performance and conversation with Crystal Roman, Cooking Up History demonstration featuring Cuban inspired foods and book signing with chef Ana Sofia Peláez, Hip Hop dance demonstration with Ana “Rokafella” Garcia, and slam poetry with Elizabeth Acevedo. Paint a mural with Michelle Angela Ortiz, engage with dynamic hands-on activities at the kids’ cart and Spark!Lab, and meet nanotechnology scientist and aspiring astronaut Yajaira Sierra Sastre at the Smithsonian Latino Center’s ¡Descubra! actilvities.

11:00am-4:00pm: Children’s Day: Honey Harvest Festival at Brookside Gardens

Join Brookside Gardens, Brookside Nature Center and The Maryland State Beekeepers Association to celebrate honeybees and pollinators. Talk to beekeepers, watch honey being harvested, buy local honey and bee products, and enjoy family-friendly activities, live music and crafts. We’ll be buzzing about pollinators all day long!

4:30pm-5:15pm: Tots & Tykes Yoga at Lemon Tree
(2100 New Hampshire Avenue, NW Washington, DC, 20009)
Lemon Tree will be hosting Angelyn Shapiro of New Beginnings Yoga. This class is for crawlers through age 4. Please click the link below for more information and to sign up! Caregivers are required to attend and encouraged to participate. No yoga mat or previous experience needed.

Visitors can kick off the Smithsonian-wide Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at “ZooFiesta: Un día de diversión animal para toda la familia,”. There will be a variety of fun-filled family activities, including live music, authentic gourmet cuisine and educational activities about conservation in Central and South America.“ZooFiesta” will also feature the Smithsonian Latino Center’s ¡Descubra! Meet the Science Expert series, which is made possible, in part, by NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. Visitors have an opportunity to meet Zoo scientists who are working to save native species and learn about their research.Animal keepers will host talks, feedings and demonstrations highlighting a variety of animals native to the region, including Andean bears, sloths, giant anteaters, golden lion tamarins, Panamanian golden frogs and more. Experts from the American Bamboo Society and World Bamboo Organization will be on hand with interactive activities and to talk about the indigenous bamboos throughout the Americas.

11:00am-12:00pm: Family Yoga at Bloombars

This family class will explore the practice of yoga through music, dance, relaxation and play. Families will have the chance to connect in a meaningful and fun way, while also giving each family member the chance to breathe, stretch and relax. This community-based class will inspire connection and awareness in a nurturing and playful environment.
