Weekday Adventures: Tyke hike, a Japanese Journey and The Yards Park

April 27, 2014

What a beautiful weekend! Hope you were able to enjoy the weather! Some of your children are off school on Friday, remember to check our post that outlines some places that will entertain your kids for the day! Also, remember the great theatre programs in our area. Get out and see a show performed at one of the many wonderful local stages.

Rain, rain go away!!!! Visit this DC Library link to see all of the children’s events going on this week that wll keep you dry and indoors.

Word around the playground is that The Yards Park will be turning on their water for kids to splash in come the beginning of May. A sure sign summer is on its way! This peaceful green space is just south of Capitol Hill and east of Nationals Park. There is a waterfall and canal-like water feature, an elevated overlook, an iconic bridge and light sculpture, terraced performance venue, and a riverfront boardwalk. Pack a picnic, some balls to throw around and bubbles when you go as your kids will have a blast.

Weekday Adventures: Georgia O’Keeffe, Amelia Earhart and Date Night(s)!

March 9, 2014

Hope everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful weather on Saturday. We spent all of Saturday at the playground, not sure if our son was more excited or if we were. We are looking forward to the days staying brighter, longer.

We created a post on exploring DC, VA and MD indoors. You can find at the top of the homepage “Indoor Fun” as well as here. Whether it’s to escape the cold or beat  the heat, we hope you find it useful. Have a great week and hopefully your kids will be back on a regular sleeping routine in no time!

This week’s adventures: Samba, Mr. Skip & Imagination Stage (Updated)

January 19, 2014

Adventures for your bambino! Read our special Martin Luther King, Jr. post on all of the exciting things you can do on Monday to recognize Mr. King. The remainder of week seems to be full of music — so get those little ones ready for some tunes!

Monday, Jan. 20

Tuesday, Jan. 21nhm

The Polar Vortex is apparently returning with a vengeance. There isn’t much planned so here are a few places to stay warm and indoors and  your bambino can still have fun.

Visit the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs before the exhibit closes for renovation. There is also a butterfly encounter that is a lot of fun to walk through. We went this weekend and our son loved watching the colorful butterflies fly around and even land on him.

Monkey Joes is sure to be a hit with your toddler (they have a separate play area for kids 3 and under) and bigger children with all the numerous inflatable toys to climb on and games to play.  23521 Overland Dr Suite120 Sterling, VA 20166 (703) 996-8300.
