He is one of the most exciting new voices on the children’s music scene – his music makes everyone sing, dance and learn – in Spanish and English. A native of Colombia, both his debut CD and his live performances are infused with south of the border sensibilities. 123 Andrés has deep roots in the Latin music world, with over a decade of experience playing Latin Jazz, Salsa, Norteño and Latin folkloric music. He has been hailed by Billboard as a “rock star for little language learners.”

11:00am-7:00pm: Around the World Cultural Food Festival at Freedom Plaza
The event is ADMISSION FREE, with plenty of food and beverages available for purchase. Come enjoy delicious foods from around the world while watching a diverse folk show with singers and dancers from different countries, as well as a fashion show with traditional outfits from some of our participating countries. Around The World Cultural Food Festival creates a Cultural and Educational Experience like no other in the DMV. Our restaurants do not only sell food; they showcase, educate and teach their culture through food. With only one (1) restaurant per country ~ we are carefully selecting the best of the best for our attendees! The festival delivers a once in a year experience in which our vendors are encouraged to present The Best of The Best from their countries.

2:00pm: Palindrome Party at Chevy Chase DC Library

Enjoy palindrome-themed art and books. Whether you know a “Hannah” or “Bob,” or have a “mom” or “dad” or “pup” or “sis,” or were born in “2002,” or have traveled in “a Toyota” or “kayak,” or just want to enjoy some zany palindrome fun, please join us. We guarantee you’ll leave knowing some fabulous palindromes you didn’t know before. All ages are welcome. Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Spend a night at the National Museum of Natural History

February 26, 2014

rotunda

We thought it’d be nice to have a surprise post mid-week, especially one that involves you and your 8-12 year old having your very own Night at the Museum; Smithsonian Sleepovers.

A night of adventureawaits you and your child as you enter the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, just as the doors are closing, the lights dim, and the crowds shuffle out…

…the wonders of the museum’s Mammal Hall and Sant Ocean Hall are yours to explore.

You and your child will go on an interactive exploration of the museum, participate in hands-on crafts projects, and view an IMAX film: Titans of the Ice Age 3D.

Then you’ll roll out your sleeping bag and dream away in the darkened halls of one of the world’s most famous museums!

Tickets are on sale now. Sleepover dates begin in May and go through August.
