10:00am-2:00pm: Museum Day Live! Family Celebration at Renwick Gallery
(2nd floor- 8th and F Streets, N.W.)
Who runs the world? Girls! Celebrate women and girls of color and their many contributions to our communities with a day of live music, performances, and crafts at the Renwick. Part of Museum Day Live!, an initiative hosted by Smithsonian Digital to promote our nation’s dynamic heritage and cultural life with a day of free admission at participating museums across the country. A must-see exhibit, Wonder is displayed at the Renwick now. Perfect event to make it to see and celebrate.

10:00am-12:00pm: Museum Day Live! ARTLAB+ Girls Speak at The Hirshorn Museum
(7th & Independence Ave)
Invoke your inner girl power! Join us for a special ARTLAB+ audio workshop featuring your voice and your ideas. Taking inspiration from female artists in the Hirshhorn’s collection, you’ll create a short poem, song, or spoken word piece. Then you’ll use GarageBand to put your words to a song that you create! You’ll receive a USB drive so you can take your work home with you. WORKSHOP REGISTRATION IS FULL; WAITLIST ONLY. This free workshop is for young women ages 10-19.

10:00am (Show begins at 10:30am): Jungle Gym Jam & Friends featuring Marsha Goodman-Wood at Jammin Java

Jason Didner and the Jungle Gym Jam is an award-winning “kindie” band that brings a true rock-n-roll spirit to songs that emphasize kindness, active play, imagination and love of learning. The band’s debut album “Everyone’s Invited!” was honored with the Parents’ Choice® Approved seal and was named CD Baby Editor’s Pick as it entered the online music retailer’s top 10 kids/family album charts. Tickets are $8.

10:00am-5:00pm: Ticonderoga Farms
(26469 Ticonderoga Rd, Chantilly, VA)
Ticonderoga Farm’s Bunny will be joining everyone at the farm. Hopping around and posing for picture PeterandtheWolfopportunities during our weekend hours and playing with our favorite friend Chickadee. Together hiding eggs for all the children to enjoy finding, especially the golden eggs that provide extra fun prizes for those who find them. Egg hunts will be held at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Cost is $11.95. Giant slides, mazes, animals, face painting and much more will be there!

11:00amand 1:00pm: Baltimore Symphony Orchestra presents Peter & The Wolf at Strathmore
Will Peter and his animal friends make it away from the wolf safely? Find out as you experience the world’s most famous musical fairytale brought to life by the Bob Brown Puppets. Learn more about your favorite instruments and be captivated by Prokofiev’s triumphant tale of a heroic boy and a mischievous wolf. Presented by Bob Brown Puppets.

Sunday-

10:00am: Sunday Fun Day at Imagination Stage
(4908 Auburn Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814)
We invite you and your child to bring your favorite stories to life through dramatic play activities, movement, music, and visual art. Each session you leave with a completed craft, as well as a Parent Pack to extend the experience at home. These popular workshops are themed around beloved children’s books. Best for ages 1-3. Featured story: Building a House.

11:00am-5:00pm: NoVa Mini Maker Faire
(South Lakes High School & Langston Hughes Middle School- 11400 S Lakes Dr Reston, VA 20191)
Check out an amazing collection of Northern Virginia tech enthusiasts, engineers, woodworkers, artists, and craftspeople to show and tell what they’re making. You and your kids will have many opportunities to learn to make things too! Buy tickets here.

1:00pm-4:00pm: Full STEAM Ahead at Annemarie Garden
(13480 Dowell Road, Dowell (Solomons), MD 20629)
Preschool children and their caretakers are invited to visit the artLAB at Annmarie Garden for hands-on investigations and challenges!  Each session will help children explore, observe, ask questions, and make predictions about the world around them as they create and play! We’ll investigate a variety of concepts in STEAM–science, technology, engineering, art, and math!  Join us for these fun and imaginative sessions that will get your child excited about learning.  Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.  This months focus is Fun with Fractions. The program is free.

***Also, keep in mind James and the Giant Peach is at Adventure Theatre, JACK and Phil, Slayers of Giants-Inc is at Imagination Stage and Treasure Island ends this weekend at Encore Stage and Studio.
