Fabergé Egg Family Festival will take place at Hillwood Estate Museum and Garden this weekend from 10am-5pm. Lots of family-friendly activities like decorating your own Fabergé-inspired egg and traditional Russian egg-rolling game.Children under 6 are free, buy tickets online here.

Ticonderoga Farms bunny will be joining everyone at the farm. Hopping around and posing for picture opportunities during our weekend hours and playing with our favorite friend Chickadee. Together hiding eggs for all the children to enjoy finding, especially the golden eggs that provide extra fun prizes for those who find them. Egg hunts will be held at 11:00am and 2:00pm this weekend. Cost is $11.95. Giant slides, mazes, animals, face painting and much more will be there!

Enjoy a hayride down the Bunny Trail at Bunnyland at Butler’s Orchard, race the Rubber Duck Derby, hunt for colorful eggs (we provide the basket!), exchange eggs for a goodie basket to take home, visit with the farm’s very own Country Bunny, ride pedal tractors, play in Hayromp and Playground, hop in inflatables, ride the giant slides, see bunnies, lambs and chicks, get your face painted and ride a pony. $9 per child and $7 per adult. Open 9am-4pm this weekend.

Saturday-Upcycled-Cinderella

9:30am and 11:00am: Upcycled Cinderella at National Theatre
(1321 Pennsylvania Ave NW)
This imaginative production brings to life the story of Cinderella in a way that will surprise and delight audiences. The wacky duo Dustmop and Binny “accidentally” stumble upon and audience and decide to put on a play with what they have before them. Using household items, recycled objects and physical comedy, our performers create hilarious characters, inventive settings and lively scenes. Free.

10:00am-3:00pm: Kites of Asia Family Day at National Air and Space Museum
(Independence and 6th St SW)
Celebrate Spring at the National Air and Space Museum’s Kites of Asia Heritage Family Day!  Talk to kite experts, see pan-Asian kite displays, marvel at indoor kite flying, make your own kite— and maybe even take a dance lesson! This year’s Kites of Asia Heritage Family Day will have a special focus on Nepal and India. Free event.

10:30am: Saturday Song Circle at Imagination Stage
You and your child are invited to a fun, interactive musical experience! An Early Childhood Teaching Artist explores a popular children’s book with your family through song and musical instruments, and you will receive a list of all the songs to practice at home. Best for 1-3 year-olds but 4-5 year-old siblings and friends are also welcome to join in the fun. Featured story: Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site.

10:30am: Mr. Jon and Friends at Jammin Java

Mr. Jon & Friends is Parents’ Choice Award winning music for kids and their families. This energetic family music is all about fun, movement, and laughter! Tickets $8.

11:00am: Family Jazz Session at Strathmore (I GOT RHYTHM with Seth Kibel)
(10701 Rockville Pike North Bethesda, MD 20852)
Strathmore’s new Saturday Family Jazz Sessions jumpstart a love for jazz with classes that nurture talent and spark musicality. Junior jazz aficionados can spend Saturday mornings singing, playing, and preparing for a lifetime of jazz appreciation. The roots of jazz can be found in swing, bossa nova, samba, and other folk traditions . . . so get moving! Kibel demonstrates jazz-related rhythms, teaches basic rhythmic patterns, and shows how dance steers music in unexpected directions. Tickets are $10.  Recommended for ages 4–10. All attendees, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

11:00am-4:00pm (Also open 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday): Okinawa Matsuri Family Day at Textile Museum
(701 21st Street, NW)
Discover Okinawa at this three-day celebration for all ages! Try your hand at origami, traditional bingata painting, and other art activities. Enjoy children’s stories, dance performances, and karate demonstrations. Learn about the geography and natural environment of the island, and take home a local souvenir. Check website for detailed schedule. Free event.

11:30am (Also showing on Saturday at 10:30am): Monkey Kingdom at National Gallery of Art
(6th Street & Constitution Avenue NW)
Set among ancient ruins in the lush jungles of Sri Lanka, Monkey Kingdom documents the life of Maya, a Toque Macaque, and her newborn, Kip. As Maya navigates the social hierarchy of her extended family, she strives to keep Kip healthy and safe. When the troop of monkeys is forced from their home on Castle Rock, Maya unexpectedly takes the lead. Narrated by Tina Fey, this stunning live-action documentary captures the beauty and peril of the macaques’ yearlong journey. Ages 6+.
