Guide to Valentine’s Day Chocolate!

February 1, 2018

Valentine’s Day for me is just another excuse to shove even more chocolate in my mouth than I did the day before. It also means the quality is probably better than my typical 3:00pm pick-me-up from the hidden Halloween stash that my child doesn’t know exists. There are plenty of delicious places for you to shop this Valentine’s Day for yourself, your love or your Bambinos that don’t include the heart shaped milk chocolate box from CVS. These are worth the trip, guaranteed.

Jason Andelman’s recipes creatively blend high-quality ingredients that subtly enhance the star of the show – Valrhona chocolate – considered the best in the industry. Introducing Magic Ground in Columbia Heights

November 30, 2015

IMG_6429

A new indoor playground, Magic Ground has opened in Columbia Heights, just above Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond on the 3rd floor. You can park in the underground garage of DC USA or take the Columbia Heights Metro. You can purchase several “packages” like Winter or Summer Memberships as well as an Annual Pass and half-day/full-day passes they will offer Parents Nights Out.

IMG_6431

The theme of Magic Ground is a magical castle and the motto is “a magical place to eat healthy and play safely.” Children will crawl, jump and climb, explore, discover and create here. Magic Ground has only been open a week but word has gotten out, as there were about 15 kids playing with us. However, The Restaurant, Game Tech (a modern time corner to ignite your senses) and Show Hall (costumes and face painting) were not open. There is a cute place with vanities and hair salon tools for kids to pretend. There are a few kitchens and baby dolls in an area to play with. My son loved sliding down the slide into the ball pit, shooting an air cannon with balls and swinging on a swing inside of the apparatus.

Summer Camp Guide for 2015

January 27, 2015

2016 Summer Camp Guide is available!

Yes, there is snow on the ground, but most summer camps are currently accepting registrations. And knowing this area, the best ones will be out of space before spring even hits. To get you prepared, we’ve put together a guide to give you the scoop on Washington, DC area camps for summer 2015. We’ve highlighted a few that are worth a look and included links to others at the bottom of the post.  As always, add to this post by commenting with your own suggestion– first or second hand. Here’s to a fun summer!

imagesBike Camp
(Drop off and Pick up at Saint Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church: 1525 Newton Street NW)

During camp, students will: Bike between one and 15 miles each day. Rides will increase in duration as the camp progresses, fix and earn their own bike, learn how to take care of their bike and make basic repairs, volunteer at a local organization, map their own rides, practice team-building activities, explore the neighborhood on their own two wheels and play games, learn about DC, and have fun outdoors. Camp hours are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday – Friday, July 13 – July 24 (10 days) and the price is $525.
