  • Learn about the lasting benefits of the Montessori method.
  • Topics include enhanced social and emotional skills, independence-building, curiosity and creativity, and executive function.
  • Explore the classroom, while meeting current CHOW parents and children.
  • CHOW’s founder, Patti Harburger, who opened the school in September 1981, will be speaking from 10:00am – 10:30am.

Research confirms that Montessori offers children a wide variety of long-term outcomes that last well beyond their preschool years — from academic outcomes and emotional maturity to social awareness, autonomy, and creativity.

What: Parents and children are invited to an open house on January 20th, 2018 from 9:00am-11:30am.

This open house is especially important because founder, Patti Harburger will be speaking from 10:00am-10:30am about the various aspects and benefits of the Montessori method. Topics include: hands-on-learning, enhanced social skills, independence building, curiosity and love of learning, executive functioning as well as Montessori approaches to teaching math, reading and writing.

If you are unable to attend the school welcomes you to contact the school director to set up an appointment that works for you! There will be other open houses in March & April.

Why: The Children’s House has rolling enrollment and accommodate children ages 2-5.

Fall classes start September 5th – Reserve your class TODAY! Popular classes and times will book up fast. Try a NEW class like Ninja Training or Pre-Ballet. Don’t forget that all enrolled members get Open Gym (which they call Practice and Play) for free! This fall they are including MORE Open Gym times to accommodate members.

Not only does My Gym Bethesda and Potomac make having a child’s birthday party so easy but they offer very generous perks and policies. My daughter has taken classes at My Gym for a year now. This summer if you were enrolled in a class you received unlimited classes at either gym location! And you always get unlimited Practice and Play (Open Gym) in both locations when you are enrolled at either location.  PLUS you can always do make-up classes in ether gym if there is a class that better fits your schedule. It doesn’t get much better than My Gym and trust me, I’ve been to many kid gyms!

So we hear rain is coming back. Because we all missed it, right?! Welp, enjoy the sunshine today and then again on Sunday. Visit our Indoor Fun guide and Theatre Roundup if you want to try out a new spot or see a great show. If you have an urge to go shopping for your Bambinos (and Moms-to-be) and save money while doing-so, be sure you read about some consignment stores I shared with local photographer and Mom, Stefanie Harrington’s readers.

Washington, DC BioBlitz takes place Friday and Saturday. Teams of scientists, students, teachers, and the general public will join in a two-day race to discover and document the flora and fauna in the region’s national parks. During BioBlitz, participants will be able to discover the parks among the monuments and tourist attractions in the Nation’s capital.
